Sandra Friend, Editor and Webmaster. Sloshing about in swamps and climbing sand dunes is all in a day’s work for author Sandra Friend, best known as Florida’s hiking expert. A world traveler with a passion for exploring and sharing the wonders of the natural world with her readers, Sandra is the author of 27 books.

Amy Eckert. Amy Eckert specializes in travel to Germany, where she lived as a college student, and the American Midwest, the place she’s called home ever since. Her topical specialties include adventure and motorcycle travel, arts and culture, and culinary destinations. Amy has authored Michelin’s Germany guide and iPhone travel guides to Frankfurt and Munich. She has also contributed to Harley-Davidson’s Ride Atlas, Hemispheres, AAA, Wine Enthusiast, Midwest Living, AirFrance.com and AARP.com.
Ann Burnett. Ann Burnett has lived in Scotland, Canada and Australia, has visited an Inuit village above the Arctic Circle, camped out under the stars in the Australian outback and was almost sold for two cows to a Masai warrior in Kenya. Despite that, or perhaps because of those experiences, she still loves to travel and to write about it. Her articles have appeared in the Observer magazine, Healthy Way, My Weekly as well as online and she was also a tutor in article writing at Glasgow University.
Barbara Radcliffe Rogers. Barbara Radcliffe Rogers is the author of 32 travel books — nine of them on New England and a dozen on Southern Europe, all reflecting her love of finding the hidden corners and secret places that escape more traditional travel guides. When she is not writing, she is likely to be found searching for prehistoric sites in Portugal or paddling her kayak in the Bay of Fundy.
Bob Bowers. A lifelong naturalist, Bob Bowers writes about travel, adventure and nature, especially birds. He writes a monthly birding column for a newspaper in Arizona, and was formerly the Topic Editor for Birds and the Feature Writer for Latin American/Caribbean Travel for the online magazine, Suite101. His work has also appeared in the travel magazine, Another Day in Paradise, published in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, and he publishes three blogs, centered on www.birdingthebrooke.com. Bob and his wife live in the Santa Catalina Mountain foothills near Tucson, Arizona.
Chelle Koster Walton. Thousands of print and web travel and food articles, a dozen or so guidebooks, two iPhone guidebook apps, one food and travel blog: That about sums up Chelle’s 20-year career specializing in Florida, the Caribbean, and islands.
Chris Eirschele. Chris Eirschele writes on wherever garden paths lead. A native of Wisconsin, she has traveled parts of western Europe and much of the United States, finally settling in the desert southwest. Her work has been published in Ohio Gardener, Milwaukee Magazine and Over the Back Fence and at her bloggy muse called Stay Gardening. She is a member of the Garden Writers Association.
Dawn Smith. Dawn Smith is a writer and veterinary nurse who has traveled to some of the world’s most interesting wildlife conservation projects, observing and consulting on rehabilitation and reintroduction programs. She and her husband, a wildlife conservation veterinarian, are avid bird (and other animal) watchers, happy to go just about anywhere as long as they can take binoculars and be outdoors.
Diana Lambdin Meyer. From riding camels in Egypt and climbing glaciers in Alaska, Diana Lambdin Meyer has found the adventure she had always dreamed a job and life could provide. Sharing those adventures and stories with Diana is her husband, Bruce, a photographer who, if possible, has greater wanderlust than Diana. Together, they have been published in just about any medium known to human kind. Members of the Society of American Travel Writers, Bruce and Diana are based in Kansas City, Missouri. Ed Wetschler. Executive editor of Tripatini, Caribbean editor for Recommend Magazine, contributing editor to EverettPotter.com, and capo di Greenwich Village. In recent years Ed has written for Frommers, Gadling, IndependentTraveler, and various custom publications; in his past life he was the editor-in-chief at Diversion, the (Hearst) leisure magazine for physicians, where he also adjudicated staff bowling matches.
Gillian Kendall. Writer and adventurer Gillian Kendall recently sold her home in Melbourne, Australia, and now lives in the USA, with frequent visits to the UK and Oz. She’s co-author of How I Became A Human Being, author of the New York Times‘s Notable Book Mr. Ding’s Chicken Feet, and editor of Something to Declare: Good Lesbian Travel Writing. She writes fiction, memoir, and essays, as well as travel writing, and she offers private coaching in memoir and nonfiction writing. Her business cards say, “Writer and adventurer for hire,” and her rates are reasonable.
Grace Lichtenstein. Grace Lichtenstein is a former New York Times reporter. As head of the Rocky Mountains Bureau, she was the paper’s first national bureau chief. She is the author of six books, numerous book reviews, and articles appearing in such publications as Smithsonian, Esquire, and AARP Magazine. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY.
Jennifer Young. Jennifer Young is a Scottish-based writer who delights in exploring the wilds of the Highlands and beyond, on foot, by car and by bike. As a student she contributed to a number of travel guides before going on to work as a tourism consultant. Now a freelance writer, she was an award winner in a travel competition run by the UK’s Daily Telegraph newspaper.
Jill Browne. Jill Browne is a writer and occasional editor living in Calgary, Canada. As her blog, Middle of the Road Less Travelled says, she likes “Adventure without risking life and limb.” Solo and with family or friends, she has explored Canada, the United Kingdom, the east coast of Australia and Tasmania, and bits of western Europe. Not liking hot weather much, her recent trips have been to the Faroe Islands, Denmark and Finland.
Jonathon Engels. Jonathon Engels has been an EFL expat since 2005, just after he earned an MFA in creative writing and promptly rejected life as an instructor of freshman comp. He has lived, worked and/or volunteered in seven different countries, traveling his way between them. Currently, he lives in Antigua, Guatemala, where most mornings he can be found tucked behind a computer in the corner of a coffee shop.
Julie Hatfield. Julie Hatfield was a staff reporter for the Boston Globe for 22 years, writing lifestyle, fashion, a business philanthropy column, and travel. She now write for various travel websites, including Examiner.com, passportnewsletter.com, travelvideopostcard.com and visualtraveltours.com.
Karen Warren. Karen Warren has been writing and travelling for many years, her current favoured locations being Italy and the Middle East. She recently quit the day job to spend more time on both activities. Karen writes fiction as well as travel articles, and is working on her first novel.
Karin Marijke Vis. Karin-Marijke Vis is a bilingual (Dutch-English) writer who has been overlanding in Asia and South America since 2003. She and her partner Coen Wubbels, photographer, work as a freelance duo. Their work has appeared in 4WD/car monthlies as well as in travel magazines.
Kath Usitalo. Kath Usitalo lives in, writes about and takes photos of Michigan for a variety of print and online outlets including her own blog, Great Lakes Gazette. She occasionally takes her notepad and camera on the road to discover stories outside of the Great Lakes region.
Katherine Rodeghier. Katherine Rodeghier has more than 30 years of experiences as a travel writer and editor for newspapers, magazines and websites. She has researched and photographed destinations in more than 75 countries on all seven continents and has taken cruises across the globe.
Kathlin Sickel. Kathlin Sickel is a Wisconsin-based freelance writer and eager traveler who has written for newspapers, regional magazines, and online. She currently writes a blog, “Wild Chicks,” at WisconsinTrails.com, which follows Wisconsin’s role in the international effort to re-introduce whooping cranes in eastern North America.
Laura Byrne Paquet. Canadian travel writer Laura Byrne Paquet has been bitten by leeches in Thailand, biked across Prince Edward Island in a hailstorm, and taken a bus across the Andes with a vocal team of teenage Argentine water polo players. The author of 12 books and novellas, she blogs about ways to travel like a local at FacingTheStreet.com.
Lisa Meyers McClintick. Author of Day Trips from Twin Cities and The Dakotas Off the Beaten Path, Lisa Meyers McClintick has gone caving, paddled with belugas, unearthed dinosaur bones and biked through Badlands. A mother of three—including twins—she writes for USA Today’s Go Escape, Midwest Living, AAA Living, the Star Tribune, Expedia’s FamilyVacationCritic.com and more. She also created “Minnesota Lake Vacations,” a Sutro Media travel app and the travel site 10000Likes.com.
Marie-Claude Arnott. Marie-Claude Arnot is a freelance writer and a global citizen. Raised in France near cosmopolitan Geneva, Switzerland, she speaks four languages, has lived in five countries and visited close to fifty. She holds a B.A. in International Studies from California State University East Bay, Hayward and studied Feature Writing with the London School of Journalism. Melanie McManus is always looking for her next adventure, whether it’s hiking 1,000 kilometers on a Spanish pilgrimage trail or warming her hands over a space heater with Muslim guards at the Dome of the Rock. Melanie has written for publications such as Cooking Light, National Geographic Traveler, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Robb Report and Runner’s World, and recently created two travel apps. Michelle da Silva Richmond. An award-winning travel editor and frequent writer for in-flight publications, Michelle da Silva Richmond co-authored and contributed to many guidebooks on Mexico during the many years that she called it home. These days, she tends to embark on soulful journeys throughout the world, although the land of the Aztecs and the Maya will always hold a special corner of her heart.
Rachael Cerrotti. Rachael Cerrotti is a freelance photojournalist and travel writer. Her passion for travel and photography has led her around the world. She recently spent time living in Israel and continues to travel back and forth to the region.
